Technique & Materiality: In Ash, the technique focuses on an organic manipulation of acrylic and plaster on canvas, creating a high-relief topography that invites visual exploration. The heavy impasto mimics the brittle nature of calcined remains, where the plaster provides a unique mineral structure. Through the strategic use of matte and gloss varnishes, the work generates a constant luminous dialogue, alternating between the opacity of dust and the reflection of wet matter in a 23 x 32 cm format.
Philosophy & Future Vision: This piece captures the final state of combustion through a “Pop” aesthetic, transforming residue into something vibrant. Ash symbolizes that limit where matter dissolves, much like the foam on the seashore. Looking ahead, the work stands as an investment in textural abstraction within the Inhale series, noted for its ability to maintain a tactile and architectural presence in any contemporary space.
